Introduction In this lesson, we will be learning about proper nouns. Proper nouns are the names of people, places, things, and events that are capitalized.

Lesson Outline 1. Introduce proper nouns and ask students to give some examples (5-10 minutes) 2. Compare proper nouns to common nouns (5 minutes) 3. Use worksheets and videos to practice proper nouns (10 minutes) 4. Have students identify proper nouns in sentences (10 minutes)

Questioning - What are proper nouns? - What are common nouns? - What are some examples of proper nouns? - Can you think of any other examples of proper nouns? - What is the rule for capitalizing proper nouns?

Assessment At the end of the lesson, students can demonstrate their understanding of the lesson by writing a sentence or two using proper nouns.

Differentiation For students who need help with distinguishing between proper nouns and common nouns, provide an example using visuals (e.g. a picture of a girl and the word “girl”).

Plenary To wrap up the lesson, review the key points and ask the students to identify a few examples of proper nouns they know.
