Lesson Plan: Teaching Letters U-Z

Objective: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and pronounce the names and sounds of the letters U-Z.

Materials: - Flashcards with letters U-Z and corresponding pictures (umbrella, vulture, window, x-ray, yo-yo, zebra) - Worksheets for letter writing practice - Alphabet song - Rhyme with all letters A-Z - Additional practice examples, worksheets, and games for review

Procedure:

  1. Introduction (5 minutes) - Greet the students and review the letters A-T briefly. - Explain that today, we will be learning the names and sounds of the remaining letters U-Z. - Show the flashcards with the letters U-Z and their corresponding pictures. - Have the students repeat the names and sounds of each letter after you chorally.

  2. Letter Name and Sound Practice (10 minutes) - Give each student a worksheet with the letters U-Z. - Instruct the students to say the name and sound of each letter aloud individually as they trace and write the letters. - Circulate around the classroom to provide assistance and monitor their progress.
