Introduction Welcome to today’s lesson on proper nouns! Does anyone know what a proper noun is? (Allow students to provide their answers) A proper noun is a specific person, place, or thing. Proper nouns are always capitalized.

Lesson Outline 1. Introduce what a proper noun is 2. Review the difference between common and proper nouns 3. Using an example, discuss how to capitalize proper nouns 4. Watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8Hv_jTIrTg): What are Proper Nouns? 3. Give students a worksheet to practice identifying proper nouns (https://www.schoolexpress.com/fws/cat.asp?id=2735) 4. Have students work in pairs to complete the exercise

Questioning While students are completing their exercises, the instructor should ask them questions such as: - Who can tell me what a proper noun is? - What is an example of a proper noun? - When would you capitalize a proper noun?

Assessment At the conclusion of the lesson have students write a paragraph using proper nouns. From that, the instructor can assess their understanding of proper nouns.

Differentiation Different levels of exercises can be provided for students of varying proficiency levels. For more advanced students, more challenging worksheets can be provided (https://www.kidzone.ws/grammar/nouns-01.htm), where students must write four words in each box either as a common or a proper noun.

Plenary As a plenary to the lesson, review proper nouns with the students by asking them questions such as: - What is a proper noun? - Give me an example of a proper noun? - When do you capitalize a proper noun?
