Introduction

Good Morning class 3A. Today we are going to learn about a very important part of the English language—proper nouns. Proper nouns are different from regular nouns like “apple” or “car”, because a proper noun is the specific name of a person, place, thing or idea. Can anyone give me some examples of proper nouns? (Allow students to answer)

Lesson Outline

First we will review the examples that were given, and I will explain in more detail what a proper noun is and why it is important. We will then go through some interactive activities such as writing a story with proper nouns, completing a worksheet, and watching a short video. Finally, we will have a quiz to assess our understanding of the lesson.

Questioning

Throughout the lessons I will be asking the students task-based and open-ended questions to ensure their understanding.

Assessment

To assess the students’ understanding of proper nouns, I will have the class do a quiz. The quiz will include both multiple choice questions and fill-in-the-blank statements.

Differentiation

To ensure that each student has a successful learning experience, they will be split into two groups based on their abilities: advanced and beginner. The advanced group will be given additional tasks, such as creating sentences using proper nouns, while the beginner group will focus on completing the worksheet.

Plenary

To bring the lesson to a close, we will have a group discussion to summarize the key points of the lesson: defining and recognizing proper nouns, as well as their importance in the English language.
