Objective: Students will be able to write a story about the loss of a toy and express feelings within the story.
Materials: - Writing supplies - Drawing supplies - Lost toy related objects (i.e. photographs, toys, etc.)
Time: 45 minutes
Procedure: 1. Engage students by asking them if they have ever lost a toy or anything important to them (5 minutes).

Establish understanding of the story writing goal by introducing the lost toy concept and introducing the idea that students will be writing a story about the toy (15 minutes).

Model a story about a lost toy and discuss the different details that can be added, including the feelings of the character (10 minutes).

Provide time for students to create a story board on the lost toy story using drawing supplies (10 minutes).

Collect story boards and then provide writing time to write their stories (15 minutes).
Closure: Anchor chart or poster of the story writing elements and offer suggestions for improvement or next steps (5 minutes).
