Objective: Student will learn about the Viking culture and its impact on Europe during the Middle Ages

Materials: - Copies of the “Vikings Fun Facts” handout - Viking images - Map of Europe

Procedure: 1. Introduction: Ask the students what they know about Vikings? Show the images and discuss what can be observed about the Vikings based on the images (sailing, helmets, longships, etc).

  1. Video: Show an educational video about the Viking Age (approx. 10 minutes).

  2. Discussion: Discuss what they learned from the video and ask students to identify where Vikings traveled to in Europe using the map.

  3. Handout: Hand out the “Vikings Fun Facts” handout and go over each of the fun facts one by one.

  4. Wrap Up: Ask the students to reflect on the Vikings and what they learned about the culture.

Closure: Ask the students to summarize the key points they learned about the Viking culture.
