Ask the students to identify the different words in the sentence and discuss their functions (e.g., cat is a noun, sat is a verb, on is a preposition, etc.). 4. Explain that today they will focus on four main parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.

Differentiation: 1. For students who need extra support, provide additional examples and practice opportunities during the lesson. 2. For students who grasp the concept quickly, challenge them to create their own sentences using different parts of speech.
Plenary: 1. Review the main parts of speech and their functions. 2. Ask students to share one sentence they created using each part of speech. 3. Summarize the lesson by emphasizing the importance of understanding parts of speech in building strong sentences.
