Introduction: Welcome your students to the lesson on Proper Nouns. Explain to them that proper nouns name a particular person, place, thing, or idea and that they always begin with a capital letter. Ask them to come up with some examples of proper nouns and share them with the class.

Lesson Outline: 1. Ask your students to watch the video “What is a Proper Noun?” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnTbTpTInyM) . 2. Present a variety of worksheets to the class on proper nouns (https://softschools.com/examples/grammar/proper_nouns_worksheets.html). 3. Encourage students to discuss the answers and give credit to those who have the right ones. 4. Ask students to try out all the exercises in the worksheet and provide feedback to the class. 5. Assign a quiz to assess the class’ understanding of the concept.

Questioning: Model the concept initially by asking a few comprehension questions such as “What did you learn about proper nouns?” and “Can you give me examples of proper nouns?”. Encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson to gain a better understanding of the concept.

Assessment: Formatively assess their understanding of the concept by providing a class quiz at the end of the lesson.

Differentiation: Create different levels of worksheets for students’ based on their mastery and comprehension levels. For example, there can be a basic worksheet for those who need extra practice and more difficult worksheets for those who want to challenge themselves.

Plenary: At the conclusion of the lesson, ask students to summarize the main points of the lesson and the importance of proper nouns. As students come up with ideas and share their understanding, encourage them to discuss examples.
