Introduction: Welcome Class to today’s lesson. Today we are going to be exploring a type of noun called “Proper Nouns.” Have any of you heard of this before?
Questioning: Can someone tell me what a noun is? What’s the difference between a proper noun and a regular noun?
Lesson Outline: (1) Explain what a noun is - A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea. (2) Explain what a proper noun is - A proper noun is a type of noun that always starts with a capital letter, like a name of a person, place, thing or idea. Assessment: At the end of the lesson, the students will take a quiz on the Edmodo platform to assess the students on what they have learned.
Differentiation: If students are struggling with the concept, they can refer to the video again or they can use the worksheet that they were given to get help with the examples.
Plenary: To finish the lesson, the students must name 3 examples of proper nouns and provide an explanation of what these are.
