Introduction
To provide the students with basic knowledge on the solar system, this lesson will be focused around identifying the 8 planets within the system. To do this the students will use their visual and logical skills to understand their attributes.

Introduce the 8 planets of the solar system (using chart/ images)

Identify the planets by their attributes and characteristics (atmospheres, colors, density, size etc.)

Introduce which planets have moons and in which order they come in

Use resources (charts, pictures and videos) to help illustrate what they have learnt

Assessment
At the end of the session, the students will be assessed through an activity/ quiz to test their knowledge on what they have learnt.
Differentiation
For students who are learning at a different pace from their peers, tasks can be adapted in order to suit their individual learning needs. For example, those who require more support with visuals can be given charts or diagrams to help with their understanding of the lesson.
Plenary
At the end of the lesson, the students will be asked to name all 8 planets of the solar system. They will also be asked to name any lunar bodies that are found in our solar system. This will help to sum up the lesson and help them to remember what they have learnt.
