Focus: Obeying parents
Level: Early Level
Introduction:
- Begin the lesson by asking the children if they know what religion is.
- Explain that religion is a set of beliefs and practices that people follow to help them understand the world around them.
- Ask the children if they know any religions and write them on the board.
Activity 1: Sorting Religions
- Provide the children with pictures of different religious symbols and ask them to sort them into groups.
- Encourage the children to discuss why they have sorted the symbols in a particular way.
- Discuss the similarities and differences between the religions.
Activity 2: Story Time
- Read a story about a child who learns the importance of obeying their parents.
- Discuss the story with the children and ask them to share their thoughts and feelings about the story.
- Ask the children if they have ever disobeyed their parents and what happened as a result.
Activity 3: Role Play
- Divide the children into pairs and ask them to take turns being the parent and the child.
- The parent should give the child a simple instruction, such as “put your toys away”.
- The child should then obey the instruction.
- Swap roles and repeat the activity.
Conclusion:
- Recap the different religions that the children have learned about.
- Discuss the importance of obeying parents and why it is important to listen to them.
- Ask the children to share one thing they have learned from the lesson.
