Objective: To understand the cultural, physical and political geography of China
Materials: Computer or laptops, projector or television
Time: 60 minutes
Procedure:

Introduction (5 minutes): Introduce students to the topic of China and show them a map of the country, explain the size and ask students what they already know about China.

Discussion (10 minutes): Ask students to draw out any facts about China on the board. Talk about what makes China unique in terms of its population, culture, language and physical geography.

Video (10 minutes): Show students a video about China’s culture and history (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv16poT_MyM). Ask them to make notes on anything they find particularly interesting.

Activity (15 minutes): Ask students to complete a worksheet (e.g. https://www.education.com/worksheet/article/geography-china-worksheet/) that covers the physical geography of China. Use this worksheet to further discuss the diverse geography, environment, and climate of China.

Presentation (15 minutes): Ask students to research the political geography of China on the internet and present their findings (e.g. the meaning of the Great Wall, the autonomous regions in China, the different capitals, etc). Working in pairs or small groups, ask each group to provide three facts about China’s political geography

Evaluation (5 minutes): Ask students to answer questions about the lesson or complete a quiz or crossword (e.g. https://www.education.com/worksheet/article/crossword-china-geography-2/ ) to review the material they learned during the lesson.
Conclusion: Students should now have a better understanding of the cultural, physical, and political geography of China, as well as a better appreciation of the country’s immense size and diversity.
