Introduction: Begin the lesson by asking students if they have ever been misunderstood or misinterpreted by someone because of the tone of their voice. Lesson Outline: 1. Define tone and explain its importance in communication. 2. Discuss the different types of tone, such as formal, informal, serious, sarcastic, and humorous. 3. Show examples of how tone can change the meaning of a sentence. 4. Provide students with scenarios and ask them to identify the tone of the speaker. 5. Have students practice using different tones in their own speech. 6. Discuss the importance of using appropriate tone in different situations.

Can you think of a time when you were misunderstood because of your tone? 5. How can you use tone effectively in different situations?

Assessment: 1. Have students write a short paragraph using different tones to convey the same message. 2. Provide students with a scenario and ask them to write a dialogue between two people using appropriate tone. 3. Have students present their dialogues to the class and discuss the effectiveness of their use of tone.

Differentiation: 1. Provide visual aids, such as pictures or videos, to help students understand the different types of tone. 2. Allow students to work in pairs or small groups to practice using different tones. 3. Provide sentence starters or prompts for students who may struggle with writing.
