Objective: By the end of the lesson, students should be able to recognise and identify the purpose and use of speech marks.

Activities:
Activity 1 - Introduction (5 minutes): - Students should be seated in groups and the lesson should be introduced to the class. - The teacher can explain and demonstrate the use of speech marks e.g. by sharing a couple of examples.
Activity 2 - Practice (15 minutes): - Divide the class into small groups and give out worksheets on using speech marks. - Students should identify examples of quotes and speech marks. - The teacher will observe the students and give guidance if required.
Activity 3 - Reinforcement (5 minutes): - Ask the students to think if speech marks are used to discuss opinions and thoughts. - The teacher can encourage the students to share their ideas.
Activity 4 - Assessment (5 minutes): - Ask the students to share their opinions about the usage of speech marks. - The teacher can assess the students’ understanding of the lesson through asking questions and through the discussions.
Plenary: - Summarise the lesson by restating the objectives, outlining the activities and summarising the outcomes of the assessment. - Invite the students to ask any questions they may have.
