Objectives:

Activities:

Warm Up Activity: Give each student a piece of paper with a written text containing dialogue and ask them to identify which quotation marks (speech marks) have been used.

Main Activity: Have the students create a poster with examples of sentences that use speech marks. Follow up by playing a game – pass the sentences – where a student reads a sentence they have created and passes it to the next student who adds part of the sentence and passes it on.

Closure Activity: Ask students to give examples of when they have seen speech marks used in texts.
