Procedure:

Presentation (15 minutes): 1. Write a few sentences on the board in the present tense and ask students to rewrite them in the simple past tense. Example: “I eat breakfast every morning.” -> “I ate breakfast yesterday.” 2. Explain the concept of regular and irregular verbs in the simple past tense. 3. Show the video on regular verbs in the simple past tense and discuss the rules and examples presented. 4. Practice (20 minutes): 1. Distribute the handouts with exercises on regular and irregular verbs in the simple past tense. 2. In pairs or small groups, students complete the exercises, focusing on identifying and using the correct form of the verbs. 3. Monitor the students’ progress and provide assistance as needed.

Review (10 minutes): 1. Review the answers to the exercises as a class, discussing any common mistakes or areas of confusion. 2. Encourage students to ask questions and clarify any doubts they may have.

Application (15 minutes): 1. Divide the class into pairs or small groups. 2. Provide each group with a scenario or picture prompt. 3. In their groups, students create a short dialogue or story using the simple past tense, incorporating both regular and irregular verbs. 4. Each group presents their dialogue or story to the class.

Conclusion (5 minutes): 1. Summarize the key points covered in the lesson. 2. Encourage students to practice using the simple past tense in their daily conversations and written work. 3. Provide additional resources for self-study, such as online grammar exercises or worksheets.
