Lesson Outline 1. Introduction activity: Ask the students to draw a picture or write a sentence about their favourite celebration or commemoration in Australia.

1. Brainstorm: Ask the students to brainstorm a list of national commemorations and celebrations in Australia.

2. Group work: Ask the students to work in small groups to research 3 national commemorations or celebrations in Australia and present them to the class.

3. Plenary: Ask the students to complete the worksheet ‘Celebrations in Australia’

1. Debrief: Ask the students to reflect on what the activities showed them about the range of national commemorations and celebrations in Australia.
