Lesson Plan: Adjectives for Year 5

Objective: Students will be able to identify and use adjectives in sentences.

Materials: - Whiteboard and markers - Adjective flashcards - Worksheet with exercises - Sample sentences

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Begin by asking students if they know what an adjective is. 2. Explain that an adjective is a word that describes a noun or pronoun. 3. Show students some examples of adjectives on flashcards and ask them to give examples of their own. 4. Write the definition of an adjective on the board.

Body (30 minutes): 1. Provide students with sample sentences and ask them to identify the adjectives in each sentence. 2. Write the sentences on the board and underline the adjectives. 3. Ask students to come up with their own sentences using adjectives. 4. Provide feedback and corrections as necessary.

Sample sentences: 1. The fluffy cat slept on the warm blanket. 2. The tall tree swayed in the wind. 3. The delicious pizza had melted cheese and crispy crust. 4. The old man walked slowly down the street. 5. The shiny car was parked in the driveway.

Exercise questions: 1. Identify the adjective in the sentence: The red apple was juicy and sweet. 2. Write a sentence using the adjective “happy”. 3. Underline the adjectives in the sentence: The small, brown dog barked loudly at the mailman.

Conclusion (10 minutes): 1. Review the definition of an adjective and ask students to give examples of adjectives they learned today. 2. Distribute the worksheet with exercises and ask students to complete it independently. 3. Collect the worksheets and provide feedback to students.

Assessment: Students will be assessed based on their ability to identify and use adjectives in sentences. The worksheet with exercises will be used to assess their understanding of the lesson.
