Objective: To explore number concepts and operations in mathematics by constructing and programming simple robots.

Materials: -Lego robotics kit -Laptop computer with programming software, such as EV3 Mindstorm

Procedure: 1. Begin the lesson by introducing the students to robotics and why they are important in the engineering field. Explain that they will use the materials provided to construct and program simple robots.

  1. Divide the students into teams of two and have them build their robots using the Lego robotics kit.

  2. Once the robots are built, have students program their robots to solve number problems. Each team can choose how to program their robot.

  3. Present each team with a number problem that they must solve using the programming they created. This can be done by using basic mathematical operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

  4. Once the robots have been programmed to solve the problems, have the teams demonstrate their robots in a competitive fashion.

  5. Conclude the lesson by discussing what the students have learned and ways that robots can be used to solve mathematical problems in the real world.

Assessment: At the end of the lesson, assess the students on their understanding of the mathematical topics discussed, their ability to program the robots, and their performance when demonstrating the robots. Furthermore, have them reflect on their learning experience by writing a short essay on the importance of robotics and mathematics.
