Lesson Plan: Cells for Class 8
Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to define basic concepts and compare and contrast plant and animal cells.
Materials: Paper, markers, laptops with internet access
Introduction (5 minutes):

Teacher will explain the importance of cells by making comparisons to individual building blocks of a Lego set.

Teacher will ask students to brainstorm and list down other examples of cells in animals, plants and the human body.
Body (50 minutes):

Students will be divided into groups of four and given laptops with internet access.

Students will go through online resources and try to answer the following questions: • What is the difference between plant and animal cells? • What are the components of an animal cell? • What are the components of a plant cell?

Teacher will assign each group a specific question to answer and report back on.

After the report back, teacher will explain plant and animal cells in detail and ask students to take notes.

Teacher will draw a Venn diagram on the board and ask students to discuss the similarities and differences between plant cells and animal cells.
Brain Break (5 minutes):

Teacher will play a game called ‘Cell Quest’.

Students will form two teams and compete to answer questions related to cells in the shortest time.

The team with the most correct answers wins.
Short Question (5 minutes):

Teacher will ask students to raise their hands to answer the following question: “What is the difference between animal cells and plant cells?”
