Procedure: 1. Introduction (10 minutes) - Introduce the concept of figurative language and the four types they will be learning. - Explain the purpose of figurative language – to make the writing more interesting and vivid.

Examples of figurative language (15 minutes) - Ask students to give examples of figurative language. - Once student examples have been exhausted, provide some examples for each type: Simile: “He fought like a tiger.” Metaphor: “He was a rock in a sea of chaos.” Personification: “The stars winked at me.” Hyperbole: “I have a million things to do.”

Small Group Activity (10 minutes) - Divide students into small groups and instruct them to write three examples of each type of figurative language. - Ask the groups to share their examples with the class.

Worksheet Activity (20 minutes) - Hand out the worksheet and go through the instructions. - Give the class time to complete the worksheet.

Closing (5 minutes) - Ask two or three students to explain one example of figurative language that they wrote on the worksheet.
