Procedure:

  1. Warm-up (5 minutes):
    • Begin the lesson by asking students about their plans for the upcoming weekend or any future events they are looking forward to.
    • Encourage students to share their plans using the simple future tense. For example, “I will go shopping on Saturday” or “I am going to visit my parents next month.”
  2. Introduction (10 minutes):
    • Write the simple future tense on the board and explain that it is used to talk about actions or events that will happen in the future.
    • Provide examples of sentences using the simple future tense, such as “I will call you later” or “She is going to travel next week.”
    • Highlight the use of “will” and “going to” as the two common ways to form the simple future tense.
  3. Explanation and Practice (20 minutes):
    • Explain the difference between “will” and “going to” for future predictions and plans.
    • Use the whiteboard to write down the rules and structures for each form.
    • Provide examples and ask students to identify whether “will” or “going to” is used in each sentence.
    • Divide the class into pairs or small groups and give them handouts with exercises to practice forming sentences using the simple future tense.
    • Monitor their progress and provide assistance as needed.
  4. Speaking Activity (15 minutes):
    • Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
    • Provide each group with a set of picture cards depicting different future scenarios (e.g., a person studying, a person traveling, a person starting a new job).
    • Instruct students to discuss and describe the pictures using the simple future tense.
    • Encourage them to ask and answer questions about the actions or events in the pictures.
    • Monitor their conversations and provide feedback on their use of the simple future tense.
  5. Wrap-up and Review (10 minutes):
