LESSON TITLE: Seed Formation and Dispersal
LESSON OBJECTIVES:

MATERIALS:
• Worksheet with diagrams of seed parts • Copies of seed formation and dispersal activity • Copies of seed dispersal quiz
INTRODUCTION (15 minutes):
Introduce yourself and ask students to introduce themselves to each other.
Explain that today they will be learning about seeds, how they form and the different ways they are dispersed.
Show a diagram of the parts of a seed. Ask students to identify the parts. Explain the function of each part.
MAIN ACTIVITY (25 minutes):
Divide students into groups. Give each group a worksheet with diagrams of a seed and its parts. Ask each group to label the parts of the seed.
Once each group is finished, discuss the parts of a seed with the entire class.
Explain the process of seed formation. Ask students to draw a diagram of the process on their worksheets.
Once finished, discuss the process with the entire class.
Explain the different methods of seed dispersal. Give each group a copy of a seed dispersal activity. Ask students to use the activity to identify different methods of seed dispersal.
Once finished, discuss the methods of seed dispersal with the entire class.
ASSESSMENT (10 minutes)
Hand out copies of seed dispersal quiz. Ask students to complete the quiz to assess their understanding of seed formation and dispersal.
