Title: A Joyful Celebration of Baptism
Opening Song: “This Little Light of Mine”
Leader: Good morning, everyone! Today, we gather together to celebrate the beautiful sacrament of baptism. Baptism is a special moment in our lives when we become part of God’s family. We are here to honor and rejoice with our 6-year-old friends who are preparing for this wonderful sacrament. Let us begin our liturgy with a prayer.
Opening Prayer: Dear God, we thank you for this day of celebration. We ask for your blessings upon our 6-year-old friends who are preparing for baptism. May they always feel your love and guidance in their lives. We also pray for their families and friends, that they may continue to support and nurture them in their faith journey. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Reader 1: Our first reading is taken from the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 10, Verses 13-16.
Reading 1: “People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.’ And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them, and blessed them.”
Song: “Jesus Loves Me”
Leader: Just as Jesus welcomed the little children, today we welcome our 6-year-old friends who are preparing for baptism. Baptism is a special sacrament where we are cleansed of our sins and become part of God’s family. It is a joyful moment, and we are here to support and celebrate with them.
Reader 2: Our second reading is taken from the Book of Romans, Chapter 6, Verses 3-4.
Reading 2: “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Reflection: (Leader or Teacher) Baptism is like a new beginning, just as Jesus died and rose again, we too die to our old selves and rise to a new life with Him. It is a beautiful symbol of God’s love and grace for us.
Song: “I’ve Got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy”
Leader: Now, let us witness the baptism of our 6-year-old friends. As they are baptized, let us pray for them and their families.
Baptism Ceremony: (Invite the children to come forward with their families. The priest or minister will perform the baptism ceremony.)
Closing Prayer: Dear God, we thank you for the gift of baptism and for the new life it brings. We pray for our 6-year-old friends who have been baptized today. May they always feel your presence in their lives and grow in faith, hope, and love. Bless their families and friends who support them on their journey. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
Closing Song: “This Little Light of Mine” (Reprise)
Leader: Thank you all for joining us in this special celebration of baptism. May God’s love and blessings be with you always. Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!
