Sufi didn’t like her new school uniform. It was black and grey, and she missed her old blue jumper. She didn’t want to go to the new school in London. She wanted to go back home to Belfast. Sufi’s mum tried to cheer her up, but she was still sad.

One day, while Sufi was looking out the window, she saw some kids playing football outside. They looked around her age. One of the boys was reading a book instead of paying attention. Sufi felt even sadder because she missed playing with her friends back in Belfast.

Her mum came into the room and suggested they go out for lunch and explore the new city. Sufi agreed, but only if they could get ice cream with two scoops, sprinkles, and strawberry sauce. Her mum laughed and agreed.

As they were walking back home, a football came flying towards them. Sufi kicked it back to the group of kids playing. They asked her if she wanted to join them, and her mum encouraged her to play. Sufi introduced herself to the group and they started playing football together.

Sufi had so much fun playing with her new friends. They played until it was time for Lamar to go home. The next day, Sufi was unsure if her new friends would still want to play with her. But then Ella came to her house and invited her to play rounders with the group. Sufi was excited to learn that they all went to the same school, St Martins.

Sufi hugged her mum and whispered that maybe the new school wouldn’t be so bad after all.
