Hazel stood on the platform, watching as her father boarded the train. She felt a knot form in her stomach as she realized that he was really leaving. Her father had been offered a job on a ship and would be gone for months. Hazel had never been away from her father for so long before, and the thought of it made her feel sick.

As she watched the train pull away, Hazel felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She couldn’t help but think about all the things she would miss while her father was gone. She wouldn’t be able to tell him about her day or ask him for advice. She felt like a part of her was missing.

Hazel hugged her father tightly, trying to hold back her tears. She didn’t want him to see how upset she was. She knew that he had to go, but it didn’t make it any easier. As she said her last goodbyes, she felt like her heart was breaking.

After her father left, Hazel’s mother seemed distant and sad. Hazel could tell that she was struggling to adjust to life without her husband. Hazel tried to be there for her mother, but she didn’t know how to make things better.

Days turned into weeks, and Hazel found herself missing her father more and more. She would often sit in her room and cry, wishing that he was there with her. She felt like she was alone in the world without him.

Finally, the day came when her father returned. Hazel ran to the dock to meet him, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. As she hugged him tightly, she realized that she had never been so happy to see anyone in her life.

As they walked back to their home, Hazel felt like everything was right in the world again. She knew that her father would have to leave again someday, but for now, she was just happy to have him back. She felt like she could face anything as long as he was by her side.
