Helping verbs are special words that we use to make sentences more interesting and to show different actions. The helping verb “has” is used when we talk about something that happened in the past and is still happening now. For example, “She has a pet dog.” The helping verb “have” is used when we talk about something that we possess or own. For example, “I have a new toy.” The helping verb “had” is used when we talk about something that happened in the past. For example, “He had a delicious ice cream yesterday.” The helping verb “do” is used when we want to ask a question or make a negative sentence. For example, “Do you like to play soccer?” or “I do not want to eat broccoli.” The helping verb “does” is used when we talk about someone else doing an action in the present. For example, “She does her homework every day.” The helping verb “did” is used when we talk about something that happened in the past. For example, “They did their chores yesterday.”
