Duration: 60 minutes

Objective: Students will work together in teams to improve their physical fitness and teamwork skills through two activities, a warm-up, and a cool-down.

Materials: Cones, balls, music, stopwatch

Warm-up (10 minutes)

Activity: Relay Race

Instructions:

  1. Divide the class into two teams.

  2. Set up cones at the start and finish lines.

  3. The first player from each team runs to the first cone, touches it, and runs back to tag the next player in line.

  4. The relay continues until all players have completed the course.

  5. The team that finishes first wins.

  6. Repeat the relay race with different variations, such as hopping, skipping, or running backward.

Main Activity (40 minutes)

Activity: Capture the Flag

Instructions:

  1. Divide the class into two teams.

  2. Set up two “jails” on opposite sides of the playing area.

  3. Each team has a flag that they must protect while trying to capture the other team’s flag.

  4. Players can be tagged and sent to jail, but can be freed by a teammate who touches them.

  5. The game ends when one team captures the other team’s flag and brings it back to their own jail.

  6. The team with the most captures at the end of the game wins.

  7. Encourage students to work together and communicate with their teammates to strategize and win the game.

Cool-down (10 minutes)

Activity: Stretching

Instructions:

  1. Play calming music.

  2. Lead students through a series of stretches, such as touching toes, reaching for the sky, and stretching arms and legs.

  3. Hold each stretch for 10-15 seconds.

  4. Encourage students to breathe deeply and relax their muscles.

Assessment:

Observe students’ participation and teamwork skills during the relay race and capture the flag game. Evaluate their stretching technique during the cool-down. Provide feedback and encouragement to help students improve their physical fitness and teamwork skills.
