Title: Coin Identification Progress Monitoring Activity

Objective: The objective of this activity is to monitor and assess students’ progress in identifying different coins.

Materials Needed: 1. A variety of coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters) 2. Coin identification chart or flashcards (optional) 3. Progress monitoring worksheet (see example below) 4. Pencil or pen for each student

Instructions: 1. Begin by reviewing the different coins and their values with the students. Show them real coins and discuss their characteristics, such as size, color, and any unique features. 2. Distribute the progress monitoring worksheet to each student. 3. Instruct the students to examine each coin carefully and write down its name and value in the corresponding columns on the worksheet. 4. Encourage students to use the coin identification chart or flashcards if needed. 5. Allow students sufficient time to complete the worksheet independently. 6. Once all students have finished, collect the worksheets and review them to assess each student’s progress in identifying coins. 7. Provide feedback and guidance to students as necessary, focusing on any areas where they may be struggling. 8. Repeat this activity periodically to track students’ progress over time.

Example Progress Monitoring Worksheet:

| Coin Name | Coin Value | Student’s Name | Date | ————————————————————– | Penny | | | | ————————————————————– | Nickel | | | | ————————————————————– | Dime | | | | ————————————————————– | Quarter | | | | ————————————————————–

Note: The worksheet can be customized based on the specific coins being taught and the level of detail required for progress monitoring.
