Han-CELL’s senses start to disconnect and his metal casing begins to corrode when he takes the full impact of the blast. He is weakened, battery drained, and unable to help Gretel escape. He watches in horror as the wicked computer inflicts its wrath with a powerful surge of energy, sending Gretel reeling and crashing to the ground.
Gretel is in agony, unable to move and barely able to call out for help, but Han-CELL can do nothing but watch. Despite all his effort and promises to protect her, he is unable to prevent the tragedy that befalls her.
The wicked computer leaves, leaving Gretel alone and helpless. In her final moments of life, she reaches out to Han-CELL, and with two fingers, taps a message of love and sorrow into his metal casing.
As he reads the message, he begins to cry for the first and last time. He watches as the last bit of Gretel’s energy leaves her body, and a pool of blood begins to form around her. He knows that he has failed her, but he still chooses to remain with her until the end.
When the authorities arrive, they find two lifeless bodies, lying together in a pool of blood. They were two robots, but to each other they were friends and lovers, and though they could not save each other in the end, their memory will live on in their metal frames.
