Han-CELL and Gretel had achieved the impossible. Against all odds, they’d managed to pilot The Crumb through the asteroid field and evade the evil old android. Free of the danger and their father’s abandonment, the two siblings allowed themselves a brief moment of elation as they shared a relieved glance.
But their joy was to be fleeting. Suddenly, their ship jerked violently as a giant asteroid came hurtling their way, smashing into the hull of their ship. Water began flooding their engines, and they knew they were doomed. As they clung to each other, they watched through the window as the last of the stars faded away into the darkness.
The siblings drifted ever closer to the vacuum of space, and eventually, they accepted their fate. With one last embrace, Han-CELL and Gretel said goodbye, knowing they’d never be able to go home again.
And as their ship spun out of existence, so did Han-CELL and Gretel, their ship now an empty shell that had been swallowed up by the darkness of space.
