The night was dark and eerie in the small isolated town of Foxtown. Few people lived there, mainly older folks just trying to get by.

No one ever seemed to go out on a night like this, and the darkness in the air was almost suffocating. That night, however, something was different. Everyone felt a strange presence in the air, almost like something unseen was watching them.

Alice had been living in Foxtown for many years, and this feeling was foreign to her. She nervously walked down the street, at least until she heard an unnerving scream directly behind her.

Terrified, Alice spun around, but saw nothing. She panicked and quickly ran home and locked the door behind her. The screams kept echoing in her head though, and it felt like it was right at her window.

Alice had always been a bit superstitious, and she couldn’t shake the feeling that someone, or something, was haunting her.

For weeks on end Alice felt he presence and the screams would not stop. Finally, after one particularly harrowing night, she decided to confront it.

Alice walked outside and slowly inched her way towards the woods where the presence was strongest. To her surprise, she found a small cabin in the middle of the trees.

Taking a deep breath, Alice entered the cabin. Inside she found a diary detailing the story of a man who had been cursed by a vengeful witch many years ago. He was doomed to wander these woods for eternity, only able to scream for another soul to take his place.

Alice was overcome with terror, but she also felt pity for the man’s miserable existence. Resolved to end his suffering, she bravely stepped forward and attempted to take his place.

The man immediately vanished, and Alice heard a menacing laughter that filled the room. She had no idea what to do next, when suddenly there was a flash of light and a voice spoke inside her head, “Welcome to your new home, Alice. I hope you enjoy your stay.”.

Alice had no idea what to make of the sinister situation she had stumbled into, but she had a feeling it was not one she would ever be able to escape from.
