WHEREAS, the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors within school premises are of paramount importance;

WHEREAS, the SGC has been entrusted with representing the interests and concerns of the student body;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the SGC recommends the following to the school head:

  1. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current security measures in place within the school premises, including an evaluation of potential vulnerabilities and areas of concern.

  2. Engage in open and transparent communication with stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and staff, to gather their input and address any concerns regarding the implementation of CCTV surveillance systems.

  3. Collaborate with relevant experts, such as security consultants or legal advisors, to ensure that the implementation of CCTV systems complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

  4. Develop a clear and comprehensive policy outlining the purpose, scope, and guidelines for the use of CCTV surveillance systems within the school premises. This policy should address issues such as data storage, access control, privacy protection, and the handling of recorded footage.

  5. Provide adequate training and education to staff members responsible for monitoring and managing the CCTV surveillance systems, ensuring they understand their roles, responsibilities, and the importance of maintaining privacy and confidentiality.

  6. Regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of the CCTV surveillance systems in achieving their intended objectives, making necessary adjustments or improvements as required.

  7. Establish a mechanism for ongoing feedback and reporting from stakeholders regarding the implementation and impact of CCTV surveillance systems, ensuring their concerns are addressed promptly and transparently.

  10. Monitor and assess the impact of CCTV surveillance systems on the overall safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors, and regularly report findings to the school head and relevant stakeholders.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the SGC shall actively participate in the implementation and monitoring of the CCTV surveillance systems, ensuring the concerns and interests of the student body are adequately represented.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the SGC shall work collaboratively with the school administration, stakeholders, and relevant authorities to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing effectiveness of CCTV surveillance systems within the school premises.
