Task Card:

Activity: Sightword Bingo

Objective: To help children recognize and read sight words through a fun and interactive game of Bingo.

Materials needed: - Sightword Bingo cards (pre-made or create your own) - Sightword flashcards - Bingo markers (e.g., small objects, stickers, or colored pencils)

Instructions: 1. Gather the children in a comfortable and quiet area. 2. Explain to the children that they will be playing a game called Sightword Bingo to practice reading and recognizing sight words. 3. Show the children the Sightword flashcards and go through them together, ensuring they understand the words and their meanings. 4. Distribute the Sightword Bingo cards to each child. 5. Explain the rules of the game: - Each child will have a Sightword Bingo card with different sight words. - The caller (can be the teacher or a child) will pick a Sightword flashcard and read the word aloud. - If a child has that word on their Bingo card, they can cover it with a marker. - The first child to cover a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) shouts “Bingo!” and wins that round. - Continue playing until all the children have won at least one round or until time runs out. 6. Start the game by having the caller pick a Sightword flashcard and read it aloud. 7. Encourage the children to search for the word on their Bingo cards and cover it if they have it. 8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 until a child shouts “Bingo!” and wins the round. 9. Celebrate the winner and reset the Bingo cards for the next round. 10. Continue playing until all the children have had a chance to win or until the desired time for the activity is over. 11. After the game, review the sight words with the children, emphasizing their correct pronunciation and meanings. 12. Collect all the materials and thank the children for their participation.

Note: Feel free to modify the game rules or add additional variations to suit the needs and abilities of the children.
