Objective

Lesson

  1. Introduce the topic: “Today we are going to be discussing the importance of health and safety in the workshop. Being aware of the potential hazards present in the workshop and taking the necessary precautions to protect yourself can make all the difference between a safe workshop and an unsafe one.”

  2. Punchline: Ask the students why health and safety is important in the workshop. Their answer could be “To prevent injury or death.” Identify this as the punchline.

  3. Present the facts: Show the students examples of health and safety equipment, such as personal protective equipment, safety goggles, lab coats, hard hats, respirators, industrial safety gloves, and electrical safety gloves. Explain the purpose of each item and how it is meant to protect them.

  4. Demonstrate: Ask for a volunteer to demonstrate how to put on personal protective equipment. Have the volunteer put on each item and explain how it should be worn for optimal protection.

  5. Discussion: Ask the students to discuss how important safety is in the workshop. Ask them to discuss the dangers of not using proper safety equipment.

  6. Summary: Ask the students to summarize the lesson. Ensure that they include the punchline “To prevent injury or death.”

  7. Quiz: Give the students a short quiz to assess their understanding of the importance of health and safety in the workshop.
