Topic: Human Body Systems, Puberty, and Critical and Systems Thinking

Objectives: -Demonstrate an understanding of key human body systems and how they work together to support life. -Identify the physical, social, and emotional changes associated with puberty and the transition from childhood to adulthood. -Explain how critical and systems thinking can be used for problem solving and decision making.

Activities: - students create an illustrated timeline showing the development of the human body from fetal development to adulthood and share with the class -research and create a poster outlining the various physical and emotional changes associated with puberty -make a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting critical and systems thinking - independently create a flow chart diagram showing the five main components of human body systems and the function of each one - in small groups, come up with a problem in the local community and use critical and systems thinking to develop a solution

Summative Assessment: -Students will create a presentation about how critical and systems thinking can be used for problem solving and decision making. Each presentation should include a problem, how each form of thinking will be used, potential solutions, and a presentation of the final solution.
