Unit Title: Photosynthesis

Goals:

1. By the end of the unit, students will be able to explain the process of photosynthesis, describe the roles of sunlight, water, carbon dioxide, and oxygen in the process, and draw an accurate diagram of the cycle.

2. By the end of the unit, students will be able to cite specific evidence that plants use photosynthesis to produce energy and identify at least three products of photosynthesis.

3. By the end of the unit, students will be able to discuss the importance of photosynthesis and describe how it affects the environment.

Objectives:

1. Students will describe photosynthesis using appropriate scientific terminology.

2. Students will identify the role of sunlight, water, carbon dioxide, and oxygen in photosynthesis.

3. Students will accurately draw a diagram of the photosynthesis cycle.

4. Students will cite evidence that plants use photosynthesis to produce energy and identify at least three products of photosynthesis.

5. Students will discuss the importance of photosynthesis and its effect on the environment.

Activities:

1. Students will create a model of a plant to demonstrate their understanding of photosynthesis.

2. Students will participate in a class discussion of photosynthesis and its role in the environment.

3. Students will work in groups to craft a poster on photosynthesis and label each part with the appropriate scientific terminology.

4. Students will view a virtual field trip to a science museum to learn more about photosynthesis.

5. Students will take a quiz to test their understanding of photosynthesis.

Assessment and Evaluation:

1. Creation of the plant model, poster, and quiz will be graded to assess student understanding of the unit material.

2. Participation in class discussions and group work will be monitored throughout the unit.
