Maths Lesson Plan

Objectives:

To introduce the basic concepts of maths to Primary 4 students in America.

Materials:

Whiteboard, markers, textbooks

Lesson Outline:

Introduction (5 mins)

• Welcome the students and introduce yourself (2 mins)
• Explain the objective of today’s lesson and what they will learn (2 mins)

Culminating Activity (10 mins)

• Lead a discussion on the basics of maths (5 mins)
• Introduce counting, addition and subtraction, and shapes and sizes (5 mins)

Activity 1 (10 mins)

• Hand out worksheets to the students and ask them to label shapes and count (10 mins)

Activity 2 (15 mins)

• Demonstrate a few math equations on the board and ask the students to fill in the blanks (10 mins)
• Have students work in pairs to solve the equations (5 mins)

Closure (10 mins)

• Review the objectives of the class and answer any questions (5 mins)
• Assign homework for students to practice what they learnt in class (5 mins)
