This visualiser would be an interactive journey through chapter one of The Worst Witch. It would include background art, animations and sound effects to illustrate each scene.

The journey begins with Mildred walking to school in her mismatched uniform, with a background of medieval buildings and sounds of children playing. As Mildred passes underneath an arch, the visualiser zooms in to the gates of Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches and she is greeted by the matronly form of Miss Hardbroom. The scene changes as Mildred enters the Hall of Magic, depicting the teachers and students in grand robes, with an unsettling atmosphere of anticipation. The camera spins around to the front of the stage, highlighting a stern-looking Miss Cackle and her procession of cat-like staff members.

As Miss Cackle begins the introductions, the visualiser focuses on Mildred and panning to the sneering Miss Hardbroom, before zooming out to show the Hall of Magic in its entirety. The students appear frightened and intrigued as the Headmistress talks of the importance of control and using one’s power responsibly. As Mildred takes her seat, visual effects accentuate her size in comparison to the other students and the rigid spine of Miss Hardbroom looming over her.

The scene then shifts to Mildred’s arrival to classes, with a flurry of visual and sound effects, as the students burst through the doors of the classrooms. Flashes of spell books and bubbling cauldrons accompany the scenes, as Miss Hardbroom’s lessons focus on the core principles of spell-casting and responsible use of power. The visuals become darker as Miss Hardbroom’s hard-line approach to teaching becomes more evident, culminating in the discovery of Mildred’s botched spell.

The visualiser ends with Mildred being expelled from the school and facing her future uncertainly. Music, subtle effects, and a fading image of the school capture a sense of hope that Mildred still has, despite her setback.
