Title: First Aid for Fairies Chapter 19: The Healing Power of Music

Objective: Students will learn about the healing power of music and how it can be used in first aid situations.

Materials: - First Aid for Fairies book - Whiteboard and markers - Musical instruments (optional) - Headphones (optional)

Introduction (10 minutes): 1. Begin by asking students if they have ever used music to help them feel better when they are sad or upset. 2. Explain that in chapter 19 of First Aid for Fairies, the characters use music to help heal a fairy who is injured. 3. Ask students to think about how music could be used in first aid situations.

Main Activity (30 minutes): 1. Read chapter 19 of First Aid for Fairies aloud to the class. 2. After reading, ask students to discuss the following questions in small groups: - How did the characters use music to help the injured fairy? - Why do you think music was effective in this situation? - Can you think of any other situations where music could be used in first aid? 3. Have each group share their ideas with the class. 4. As a class, brainstorm a list of different types of music that could be used in first aid situations (e.g. calming music for someone who is anxious, upbeat music for someone who is feeling down). 5. If possible, provide students with musical instruments and allow them to experiment with creating different types of music. 6. Alternatively, provide students with headphones and a selection of different types of music to listen to and discuss how each type of music makes them feel.

Differentiation: - For students who struggle with reading, provide an audio recording of chapter 19 for them to listen to. - For students who struggle with group work, allow them to work independently and share their ideas with the class individually. - For students who struggle with fine motor skills, provide them with larger musical instruments that are easier to hold and play.
