Materials Needed:
- Heavy card stock paper
- Crayons
- Pencils
- Scissors
- Glue
- Colorful jewels, stickers, or other decorations
Step 1: Show students pictures of different kinds of butterflies. Instruct them to study the pictures and learn the names of the butterflies and the different colors they have. Ask them to think about which kind of butterfly they’d like to make.
Step 2: On the heavy card stock paper, draw a large butterfly. Instruct students to draw the wings, antennae, and other features of their butterfly, making sure to use a variety of colors for the different parts.
Step 3: Add color and texture to the butterfly. Give students the crayons and pencils so they can add additional colors and details to the butterfly.
Step 4: Use scissors to cut out the butterfly shape.
Step 5: Use glue to attach the decorated butterfly to the card stock paper.
Step 6: Finish the butterfly by adding colorful jewels, stickers, or other decorations.
Step 7: Show off the finished butterflies and ask students to share what they learned about the different kinds of butterflies.
