Presentation (10 minutes): 1. Introduce the target language: “Today, we will focus on discussing past travel experiences. We will learn how to use the past simple, past continuous, and past perfect tenses to describe our adventures.” 2. Present a brief overview of the three tenses using slides or the whiteboard. Provide examples of each tense and explain their usage. 3. Highlight key phrases and vocabulary related to travel experiences, such as “I visited,” “I was exploring,” “I had never seen,” etc.
Practice (15 minutes): 1. Ask the student to think about a memorable travel experience they would like to share. 2. Encourage the student to describe their experience using the target language and the three tenses discussed. 3. Provide feedback and corrections as necessary, focusing on accuracy and fluency. 4. Ask follow-up questions to encourage the student to provide more details and extend their responses.
Production (15 minutes): 1. Divide the whiteboard or online whiteboard into three sections: Past Simple, Past Continuous, and Past Perfect. 2. Provide the student with a list of travel-related sentences in the present tense and ask them to rewrite them in the appropriate past tense. 3. Review and discuss the answers together, providing explanations and corrections as needed.
Role-play (10 minutes): 1. Create a role-play scenario where the student plays the role of a travel agent and you play the role of a customer. 2. The customer wants to plan a trip to a specific destination and asks the travel agent questions about their own travel experiences there. 3. Encourage the student to use the target language and the three tenses to describe their experiences and provide recommendations. 4. Provide feedback and corrections on grammar and vocabulary usage.
Wrap-up (5 minutes): 1. Summarize the key points covered in the lesson, emphasizing the use of the past simple, past continuous, and past perfect tenses to discuss travel experiences. 2.
