Title: Investigating Glaciers: Exploring Erosion Through Observation and Media

Objectives: 1. Students will recognize and name three types of erosion caused by glaciers. 2. Students will practice finding and interpreting information in video and images. 3. Students will be able to explain the relationship between glaciers and erosion.

Time: 45 minutes Materials: - Computer with internet connection - Projector and speakers - Materials to demonstrate erosion: water, plastic cups, gravel, bucket, sand

Procedure: 1. Introduction (5 minutes): Explain to students that we will be exploring how glaciers cause erosion. 2. Video Activity (10 minutes): Play a short video demonstrating the erosion process caused by glaciers. Then, ask students to identify at least three different types of erosion. 3. Image Activity (10 minutes): Show an image of a glacier with a brief description. Ask students to analyze the image and determine where it is located and how it is affecting the surrounding area. 4. Demonstration (10 minutes): Demonstrate the erosion process using water, plastic cups, gravel, bucket, and sand. Give students time to observe and make predictions. 5. Discussion (10 minutes): Ask the students to share their observations and discuss the erosion process. 6. Summary (5 minutes): Explain that glaciers are powerful forces of nature, responsible for shaping much of the earth.

Closure: Ask students to connect what they have learned to their local environment. How do glaciers have an impact on the places they live?
