Title: “Let’s Talk: Interactive Speaking Skills Lesson Plan”

Objective: To provide A1 level students (ages 8-11) with interactive activities to practice and improve their speaking skills.

Duration: 60 minutes

Procedure:

  1. Warm-up (5 minutes):

  2. Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes):

    • Practice pronunciation and repeat the words together as a class.
  3. Role Play Activity (15 minutes):
    • Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
    • Provide each group with a slip of paper or index card containing a simple scenario (e.g., ordering food at a restaurant, buying a ticket at the cinema).
    • Instruct students to act out the scenario using the vocabulary they have learned.
    • Encourage students to use complete sentences and ask follow-up questions to their partners.
  4. Picture Description (15 minutes):
    • Display a picture on the whiteboard or flipchart.
    • Ask students to describe the picture using the vocabulary they have learned.
    • Encourage them to use adjectives, prepositions, and simple sentences.
    • Provide feedback and correct any errors.
  5. Conversation Starters (10 minutes):
    • Distribute conversation starters or questions to each student.
    • Instruct students to take turns asking and answering the questions in pairs or small groups.
    • Encourage them to use complete sentences and ask follow-up questions to keep the conversation going.
    • Monitor and provide assistance as needed.
  6. Wrap-up Activity (5 minutes):
    • Conduct a quick review of the vocabulary words learned during the lesson.
    • Ask students to share one thing they enjoyed or learned during the lesson.
    • Provide positive feedback and encourage further practice.

Extension Activity (optional): - Assign a short speaking task as homework, such as recording a conversation with a family member or friend using the vocabulary and phrases learned in class.
