On Sunday, February 12th, 2023, Chinese people across the world will begin celebrating the Year of the Pig. The Pig is the twelfth sign in the Chinese zodiac and is though to represent good fortune, wealth and abundance. It is believed that people born in the Year of the Pig are honest, kind and hardworking.

Chinese New Year is marked with a week-long celebration full of firecrackers, traditional decorations, dragon and lion dances and family reunions. As part of the festivities, Chinese people around the world will exchange red envelops filled with money, makeup, jewelry and other gifts.

The days counting up to the New Year are also seen as important and will be marked with visits to temples and dedicated to family gatherings and cleaning.
