  1. Write the following words on the board and have the students identify the ch digraph in each word: chair, cheese, cherry, chicken, chocolate.

  2. Have the students practice writing the ch digraph by tracing over the letters in the words from step 1.

  3. Provide a list of words with missing letters and have the students fill in the missing ch digraph. For example: __air, __eese, __erry, __icken, __ocolate.

  4. Give the students a set of pictures and have them write the corresponding word with the ch digraph. For example, if you show a picture of a chair, the students would write “chair” next to the picture.

  5. Have the students create their own sentences using words with the ch digraph. Encourage them to use as many words as possible from the previous activities.

  6. Play a game of “I Spy” where the students take turns describing objects in the classroom that have the ch digraph. For example, a student might say, “I spy something you sit on that has the ch sound.” The other students would then try to guess the object (chair).

  7. Provide a worksheet with a mix of words with and without the ch digraph. Have the students circle the words that contain the ch digraph.

  8. Read a story or book that contains words with the ch digraph. Pause at certain points and have the students identify the words with the ch digraph.

  9. Have the students practice their phonics skills by playing a digital game or using an interactive phonics app that focuses on the ch digraph.

  10. Review the ch digraph at the end of the homework by having the students create a mini poster or flashcards with words that contain the ch digraph. They can decorate the poster or flashcards with pictures that represent each word.
