Title: Exploring Book Preferences

Objective: To help grade 4 learners identify their preferred themes and genres in books.

Instructions: 1. Begin by discussing with the students the concept of themes and genres in books. Explain that themes are the main ideas or topics explored in a book, while genres are categories that books can be classified into based on their characteristics. 2. Provide examples of popular themes and genres, such as adventure, mystery, fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, sports, animals, friendship, etc. 3. Distribute the worksheet to each student. 4. Instruct the students to read the given book titles and decide which theme(s) and genre(s) they think each book belongs to. They can write their answers in the provided spaces. 5. After completing the worksheet, encourage the students to share their answers with a partner or in small groups. This will allow them to discuss their choices and reasoning behind them. 6. As a class, discuss the different themes and genres identified for each book. Encourage students to explain their choices and listen to their peers’ perspectives. 7. Conclude the activity by asking the students to reflect on their own preferences. Have them write a short paragraph explaining which themes and genres they enjoy the most and why. This will help them understand their reading preferences better.
