Objective: To teach kids how to tell time and play games related to time.
Materials: - Clock with movable hands - Flashcards with different times - Board game with clock faces - Stopwatch or timer - Music player
Warm-up (5 minutes): - Greet the kids and ask them if they know what time it is. - Show them the clock and ask them to identify the hour and minute hands. - Play a game of “Simon Says” using time-related commands, such as “Simon says point to the number 3 on the clock” or “Simon says move the minute hand to 6 o’clock.”
Introduction (10 minutes): - Show the flashcards with different times and ask the kids to identify the hour and minute. - Practice saying the times together as a group. - Use the clock to demonstrate how the hands move to show different times.
Activity 1: Clock Face Board Game (15 minutes): - Divide the kids into small groups and give each group a board game with clock faces. - Each player takes turns rolling the dice and moving their game piece around the board. - When they land on a clock face, they must say the time shown and move their game piece to the corresponding hour on the board. - The first player to reach the end of the board wins.
Activity 2: Time Challenge (15 minutes): - Set a timer or stopwatch for one minute. - Show the flashcards with different times and ask the kids to say the time as quickly as possible. - Keep track of how many times each kid gets correct in one minute. - Play music and have the kids dance around until the music stops, then show a flashcard and have them say the time.
Wrap-up (5 minutes): - Review the different activities and ask the kids what they learned about telling time. - Give each kid a clock face sticker or coloring sheet to take home and practice.
