Fractions and decimals are both ways of representing numbers, but they work a little differently. Fractions show how many parts of a whole number you have. For example, 1/2 means one out of two parts. Decimals are another way of writing numbers. A decimal number is written with a point, like 0.5, which means five out of ten parts. So, 1/2 is the same as 0.5.
