Procedure:
- Warm-up (5 minutes):
- Greet the students and ask them how they are doing.
- Engage in a short conversation with a few students, asking them about their day or weekend plans.
- Encourage the students to respond in complete sentences.
- Introduction to Self-Introduction (10 minutes):
- Write the phrase “Self-Introduction” on the board.
- Ask the students if they know what it means.
- Explain that a self-introduction is a way to tell others about yourself, including your name, age, nationality, hobbies, and interests.
- Show some flashcards with vocabulary words related to self-introduction (e.g., name, age, nationality, hobbies, etc.).
- Teach the pronunciation and meaning of each word, and have the students repeat after you.
- Vocabulary Practice (10 minutes):
- Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
- Give each group a set of flashcards with the vocabulary words.
- Ask the students to take turns picking a flashcard and using the word in a sentence related to self-introduction.
- Monitor the groups and provide assistance as needed.
- Model Self-Introduction (10 minutes):
- Write your own self-introduction on the board as a model.
- Include information such as your name, age, nationality, hobbies, and interests.
- Read the self-introduction aloud, emphasizing pronunciation and intonation.
- Ask the students if they have any questions about your self-introduction.
- Guided Practice (15 minutes):
- Distribute handouts with self-introduction prompts to each student.
- Instruct the students to fill in the prompts with their own information.
- Encourage them to use complete sentences and refer to the vocabulary words they learned earlier.
- Monitor the students as they work, providing guidance and feedback.
- Pair Work (10 minutes):
- Pair up the students and have them take turns introducing themselves to their partner.
- Encourage the students to ask follow-up questions to learn more about each other.
- Circulate around the classroom, listening to the conversations and offering assistance when needed.
- Wrap-up (5 minutes):
- Bring the class back together and ask a few students to share something interesting they learned about their partner.
- Provide positive feedback and praise for their efforts in introducing themselves in English.
- Summarize the main points of the lesson and remind the students to practice their self-introduction skills outside of the classroom.
Extension Activity: - Ask the students to create a short video or audio recording of their self-introduction using their smartphones or other devices. - Have them share their recordings with the class or upload them to a class website or platform for feedback and further practice.
